built to pour Kofra properly.
Komodo opened in 2023 with one idea: bring Norwich’s Kofra roasters down to Brighton and serve them the way they deserve — carefully, alongside bakes from our own kitchen. We’re still that same small, bright corner today.
How it started
From a Norwich roaster
to a Brighton bar.
We started Komodo because we wanted to taste Kofra’s coffee every day — fruity, precise, never dull. So we built a bar around it in the heart of The Lanes and made it the only place in Brighton pouring them.
The beans still travel down from East Anglia and rotate often. The bakes still come out of our own kitchen each morning. Not much has changed since 2023, and that’s the point.
What we stand for
Four things we don’t cut corners on.
One roaster, poured properly
We pour Kofra of Norwich and nobody else in Brighton does. Beans rotate often and lean light to medium, so the fruit comes through.
Baked here, that morning
Banana bread, pistachio tiffin, vegan chai & walnut cake, savoury samosas — our own kitchen, seasonal, made fresh.
Milk on us
Oatly Barista and Sproud pea milk at no extra charge. Order it the way you like it.

Coffee geeks and first-timers alike. Ask the team what’s on today — there’s no wrong question.

We built Komodo around a shared love for modern coffee, and a welcome that works for coffee geeks and first-timers alike. That community is the part we’re proudest of x

Voted Brighton’s
best coffee in 2024.
A year after opening, Brighton voted Komodo first place for Best Coffee at the BRAVO 2024 awards — a public vote, not a panel. It still means the world, because it came from the people who drink here.
